'The
Blue Bride' ('La Sposa in Blu' for the Italian production) is a comedy
with a shade of noir and dialogues that offer food for thought. The
main character is Oona (Oriana for the Italian production, performed by
the drag queen Platinette), a 40 to 50-year-old
sexologist/psychotherapist who gets home after a hard day at work and
starts analysing the male universe while preparing her dinner. Oona
gets a kick out of the differences between the world of men and the
world of women, out of what women want and expect from the 'stronger
sex', going through their idiosyncrasies, manias, beliefs, and madness. Clichés
and truths, myths and scientific information, Oona doesn't sugar coat
it. She demonstrates the incompatible difference between men and women
while nimbly juggling an especially 'difficult' client, two inept police
officers, a clumsy thief, and a neighbour who is inspired by Oona's
advice to solve the problems she's having with her husband by...
eliminating her husband! To top
it all off, Oona herself has a few scheletons in the closet; her
husband, whom she is always mentioning, has ended up in pieces in the
freezer, "glorified" by the pork with gin based dinners Oona offers her
friends and neighbours every night.
